This applet shows the influence that the separation and radius of wire in a loop has on the inductance per unit length and the H and E fields. A current source, in which the current level can be adjusted, is used to force a current to flow in the loop of wire. A magnetic field is generated from this flow of current. By bringing the wires closer together the loop area and inductance are decreased and the magnetic field strength is increased at the mid point between the two wires. The radius of the wire can be increased and decreased. By decreasing the wire radius the inductance increases.
