Full-Bridge / Current Doubler Output

  • Overview

This applet contains three different isolated full bridge DC/DC converter circuits. These are the four diode bridge rectifier output, 2 diode output and the current doubler output. The converter has the same full bridge, 4 switch configuration and it is only the transformer secondary and diode configuration that is changed.
The full bridge rectifier output stage has only one transformer secondary winding, but requires 4 diodes to rectify the output voltage. In comparison, the two diode output rectifier has less diodes but does require an extra winding on the transformer. The current doubler circuit only requires one transformer secondary, two diodes but two output inductors.

  • Operation
    • Change the circuit topology by clicking on one of the three circuits.
    • Move the red time line to observe the various current paths.
    • Adjust the transformer turns ratio.
    • Change the duty cycle of the full bridge converter.
