A new research centre will strengthen the durability and reliability of power electronics.
The centre is called X-Power and was opened on Tuesday at Aalborg University (AAU).
Power electronics is technology that handles electric current and voltage in all kinds of electronics. X-Power makes it possible to test the reliability of power electronic systems and components when subjected to stress factors such as temperature, humidity and vibration.
This will allow researchers and industry to both improve the technology and more easily predict its service life. Among other things, this is essential to realise the green transition.
X-POWER is a collaboration led by Aalborg University with the participation of The University of Southern Denmark (SDU), FORCE Technology and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). In addition to the test facilities in Aalborg, departments will also be set up at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense and Sønderborg.
