Current Sensing and Integrated Sensor Technologies in Power Electronics | ECPE Double Workshop | HYBRID

Current sensing in power electronics is becoming increasingly challenging with fast-switching SiC and GaN devices, higher power densities and stricter requirements for protection, control and characterisation.

This double workshop addresses both practical current measurement and the growing role of integrated sensors. The first day focuses on current measurement and current sensors in power electronics, including user requirements, overload protection, optical measurement, shunts, Rogowski coils, parasitic effects, magnetic sensors and high-bandwidth laboratory characterisation.

The second day is dedicated to integrated sensors for temperature and current at chip, package and module level. Topics include lifetime prediction using integrated temperature sensing, the transfer of chip-integrated sensor concepts from silicon to wide-bandgap devices, optical temperature and current sensing, and industrial approaches to embedded sensing in power modules.

The workshop will combine technical background, application experience and practical measurement challenges. Ample time will be reserved for discussion with experts and participants on suitable sensing concepts, limitations and future requirements for power electronics applications.

All presentations and discussions will be in English.
