Invitation to join the European Center for Power Electronics by ECPE President Prof. Dr. Leo Lorenz.

ECPE has been founded mid of 2003 and after establishing the headquarter, ECPE directly started its activities according to the key objectives:
promotion of pre-competitive research
education and training
public relation in power electronics

In cooperation with the founding members of ECPE, a roadmap of research topics, a concept for education and training as well as measures for public relation in power electronics have been worked out. Granted research funds - which is a big challenge at the moment - are available to build-up this European network. This European Network gives a unique chance to demonstrate the impact of power electronics in Europe and to advance important research topics in a coordinated and focussed way. Any organisation like this depends on its members, giving it excellence and relevance. Your influence on the overall strategy of ECPE by your membership is of outstanding importance.

The cooperation within an industrial consortium - even though partners and competitors are sitting around one table - has emerged to be very constructive. In the definition of research topics the network has shown to be advantageous, the technical discussion is exceptionally constructive. Many research topics - especially the cross-sectional topics - can not be handled by single partners for reasons of limited time and resources. This may have negative consequences on the competitive situation in the near future. We - the ECPE Principal Partners of today - would appreciate, if you will strengthen power electronics in Europe by your membership in ECPE (Principal Partner, Associate Partner or member of the registered association ECPE e.V.). The invested capital will be profitable for you.

As an industrial network ECPE will show the importance of power electronics to the public, to increase the acceptance of the political and academic decision-makers and of students to look for a career in power electronics. ECPE will intensify and promote research and development in the area of power electronics in an European competence network of research institutes coordinated by industrial partners. The overall objective is to strengthen the competitive situation of European power electronic industries and users of power electronics.

For this purpose, we need the support of European companies by their active assistance as members. The annual membership fee of ECPE e.V. is € 10.000,--. Furthermore, you have the option to accede to the Research Partner Agreement as Principal or Associate Partner. This enables you to control the research projects directly and to have access to results and intellectual property rights. The payments to the research fund are listed in article V of the Research Partner Agreement.

We would be happy to welcome you as ECPE member.

Yours sincerely
Prof. Dr. Leo Lorenz
President of ECPE e.V.
