alpitronic is a team of committed engineers with professional experience in the automotive, aerospace and industrial electronics sectors.
As a development specialist for electronic hardware and software the focus of alpitronic is put on power electronics in the automotive sector. In addition, product qualifications for the world's leading semiconductor manufacturers are carried out in our in-house power cycling test laboratory.
alpitronic is currently developing its first own product, the hypercharger; an ultra-fast charger for electric vehicles that can fully charge a vehicle in just a few minutes.

Ascatron provides next generation Silicon Carbide (SiC) power semiconductors radically reducing losses in power converters. The high voltage power devices are based on Ascatron proprietary 3DSiC® material technology with buried doping structures to reduce the surface electric field. This gives very robust devices with lower losses and reliable operation at full power. Ascatron also offer SiC epitaxy service for prototyping with flexible specifications and a wide range of thicknesses for both n- and p-type doping. Ascatron started the operation in 2011 and has 13 employees in Sweden.

The research interests of the Power Electronics Laboratory (EPFL) are in the broad area of the Electrical Energy Generation, Conversion and Storage. In particular, we are working on High Power Electronics Technologies for Medium Voltage applications, those operating with voltages in kV range, currents in kA range and powers in MW range. Power Electronics is one of the key-enabling technologies for the future energy systems, as it offers unprecedented flexibility for the integration and control of various electrical sources, storage elements or loads into the grid. This is equally valid for the present-day AC grids as well as for emerging concepts of DC grids, or inevitable mix of both in the near future.
To achieve controllable, reliable and efficient electrical energy conversion by means of advanced power electronic converters, we optimally use, but also influence and drive forward, advancements in different areas. These multidisciplinary considerations include: power semiconductors (e.g. Si, SiC, GaN), passive components (e.g. magnetics), insulation materials, mathematical modeling, simulations and optimization of power electronic systems, advanced control methods, etc

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE is the largest solar energy research institute in Europe. It creates technological foundations for supplying energy efficiently and on an environmentally sound basis in industrialized, threshold and developing countries. With its research focusing on energy conversion, energy efficiency, energy distribution and energy storage, it contributes to a broad application of new technology. The department of power electronics and grid technologies of Fraunhofer ISE has more than 30 years of experience in the design of power electronic circuits.

Fraunhofer ISIT

Fraunhofer ISIT develops and manufactures innovative active and passive power semiconductor components based on silicon and gallium nitride for highest switching frequencies in the MHZ range in a modern 8” manufacturing environment. Customized low loss IGBTs with advanced cell architecture enable applications in a wide voltage range up to 1200 V. Within the context of a research project (InMOVE) a novel design for an integrated traction inverter was realized. Thin wafer technology and laser annealing was used for the manufacturing of the IGBT devices. A further topic is the development of power electronic systems and system simulations.

ISE Magnetics presents on the PCIM 2018 the latest development in PLANAR Transformers and Inductors  from 3KW  up to 200 KW and high power LLC Resonant transformers with efficiency up to 99,7%.
ISE MAGNETICS™ is a manufacturer and design house of inductive components; having production and (sales) offices in western and eastern Europe, we also subcontract production in Asia which we strictly prescribe control and inspect.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT

The Institute for Data Processing and Electronics (IPE) and the Institute of Electrical Engineering (ETI) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) explore new power electronic systems, power electronic packaging and interconnect methods and lithium-ion battery systems. Among others, highly integrated SiC Power modules with copper sintered SiC MOSFETs for inverters and modular Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop systems are presented.

Switched-mode power supplies are moving to higher di/dt and so deleterious spike voltages are getting more and more troublesome. We are the experts in accounting for layout parasitics because our EDA tools integrate an EM field solver (to extract the parasitic from the layout artwork) with the circuit simulator (to model the lumped element components). Our PE customers use our tools to see the effect of “good” and “bad” layouts on the device stress, conversion efficiency, EMI/EMC, etc. without having to “solder and see” by building and testing a bunch of costly and time-consuming prototypes).
